Note: Noront carried out technical studies and a Preliminary Economic Assessment of this project which resulted in positive conclusions. There is currently a pre-feasibility study underway which consists of metallurgical testwork, geotechnical studies, hydrological studies, mining, environmental studies, and processing and infrastructure designs. The pre-feasibility study is expected to be completed by the end of this year with a final feasibility study being completed in 2012. Further update early 2012.
Project: proposed mining development in Northern Ontario's 'Ring of Fire' which is centred around McFaulds Lake, Kenora District. Eagle's Nest is Noront's most advanced project. Is a magmatic sulphide deposit with an estimated 1.8 million tones of measured resource and another 1.1 million tones of inferred resources. The resources grades have exceeded 2.0% nickel and 1.0% copper as well as 1.04 grams per tonne of platinum and 3.55 grams per tonne of palladium. This project will consist of a 1.0 million tonne per annum underground mine, processing mill complex, accommodations for employees, recreation complex, offices, explosive storage site, site roads, and an air strip.
