Friends,
Thanks for another great post Ingrid....as always. Thought I might look into the anger issues that Webequie is having after the declaration of the North/South route.
It struck me as odd that Cornelius Wabasse has made such statements of late that would question the relationship Noront has built with his community. It appears that this Michael Fox chap of (Fox High Impact Consulting) has considerable influence over the chief.
According to Mr. Fox's "Working Together" checklist, of which Noront can tick off almost all tasks, the next phase of the relationship is the Impacts and Benefits agreement. Link below to checklist:

I think that at this juncture in time, cosidering the scope and feasibility of the plan that was best case for his community, and that Cliffs and FED announcement threw cold water on, it is unfair for Conelius to say that Noront has "stopped providing needed resources to continue negotiations' ?? What is making Cornelius posture in such a way? Who else besides Noront has done as much for them in the ROF?
Let me remind Chief Wabasse of the considerable effort the Noront has put forward of late....IN HIS COMMUNITY.
Begining with the assisted funding that Noront provided for the new Diesel plant. (HUGE)
I heard they pitched in for the skate rink (HUGE) and in Marten Falls too.
Career Days/ Job Fairs
Youth Camps
DareArts
Christmas Fund/ Bursary
Mikawaa Sponsor
A fair amount of time spent between Wabasse and Glen Nolan from our BOD.
An exclusive drilling contract with Cyr Drilling.... of WEBEQUIE.
Mr. Fox needs to take an exerpt from his own playbook in which it states, "to address new issues and remain flexible to account for changing circumstances and new information" and really allow Noront the time to revise their feasibility.
In the mean time, I would suggest that Cornelius look around town and notice almsot all the boys are sporting a nifty looking "Noront" ball cap. Consult with those youngsters and listen to what they really want.....don't tell us they want to see fish spawning.........they want I-pads.
Traditional ways are yours, Mr . Wabasse if you cannot accept change and take on the protectionist stance that Mr. Fox is instigating for your community.
Think about these things, Mr. Wabasse when you are "reviewing and reconsidering" the Eagles Nest Project.
And where is the Province's ROF coordinator in all of this.......off snoozing with Crazydik, imo.
Warm summery regards,
