"Tar sands mining leaves behind a polluted wasteland"

It would appear to be so,from those pictures,but don't forget that these areas are reclaimed,reforested,restored to previous state AND monitored for 15 years by law.There are many that would want you to believe the propaganda such as "4 barrels of fresh water required to produce one barrel of bitumen"This ratio is fact but what they fail to mention is that 95% of the water is recycled over and over again so those 4 barrels of water may produce hundreds of barrels of oil.
