Getting Ready for the Ring of Fire
(September, 25 2012) -
In partnership with Anishinabek Employment and Training Services (AETS) Confederation College's Training & Development Department has been working with several First Nation students to obtain their Common Core Surface Diamond Drillers certification. Wiskair Helicopters has been assisting us with one of the modules that trains students how to work with helicopters in the mining industry. Skills include ... long lining, slinging, safety practices and helipad construction. On Monday, Sept. 24th, 8 students graduated and will be ready to take an active role in the mining exploration boom in Northwestern Ontario. This group will bring our total to 43 trained Diamond Driller's Helpers over the past 6 months.
