Sometimes one has to look at who is saying before what is said.
How often do you get a straight answer ( or question) from a politician?
Almost never, it is half truths and inuendoes, if any truth was ever involved.

As for Cliffs, just look at the logic of it. Cliffs collapsed, I presume no one would argue against that fact. Then would it do so because their chromite would be taxed and by such an amount?
Per my previous post, all jurisdictions tax mines in one form or another. So tax is not a problem if it is not excessive. Several million dollars on a yearly basis for so large an asset is reasonable by my miniscule knowlege.

Cliffs had gargantuan problems unrelated to the chromite and taxation. Did they not sell their assets for a dime in Quebec? Did Quebec also threaten them with taxation?.
Did Cliffs not pull back on all their operations and was it due to potential taxes?.

I think it is obvious about the phonyness of that argument and I would be ashamed of being a politician and saying such.
Pooh hoo also on the Globe for writing such a article. They should tar and feather such politicains when they spew garbage.

Lets let go of Cliffs and their problems, we have enough of our own for now. Patience until the cows come home, Ed.
