"How do the natives envision the future? How are they going to manage when their population doubles or triple and the ore runs out? Are we the tax-payers going to be stuck supporting 75,000 natives rather than 25,000 we have now living on reservations in NW Ontario. What about the longer term when there are a million natives on 49 reservations with no means of self support? Think about it."
This applies to any group of people FN or otherwise. Have you noticed what Albertan's have been experiencing in their "reserve" , East and west coast fisherman? Your questions lack forward thinking. The FN are looking to become increasingly self directed with the empowerment that wealth brings. Beware the danger that came with the teachings of our previous gov'ts and school systems whereby the FN were said to be savages and inferior people. This is truly not the case. The real fear from those who have had it good for too long is that they'll have to share. Heaven forbid that man should have to share with man. Until we learn to share we'll not see peace and for that matter survival.
