Ringer & Gerwin with regard to:
"However, there is some resistance in the communities due to fears over increased drug trafficking and a significant reduction in Ontario social welfare rates — up to 40 per cent — once a First Nation is
connected by road."
Gerwin, perfect answer as to drugs. I have visited Holland a few times so concur. THANKS.
Ringer, they are using the 40% potential decrese in support payments as an excuse for not being in favour of road going in? This is too much to believe.
I would not only reduce by 40 but perhaps 50%. Because, With the road in place most problems would disappear and some that persist should decrease in scope.
They must be using some perverse logic.
The reason there would be a cut back is because with the road just about all services and materials would be cheaper, and more to the point, some Possible where there are none now.
So they lose some to gain more. This is so obvious so how idiotic can they be?
Thanks to all who contributed on this topic, as for me am increasingly intolerant of the silly logic from the natives whom I was a gung ho to support just a few years ago.
