Ringer from the article you posted it stated..
"Today two First Nations Leaders predicted that the recent road projects for the Ring of Fire announced by the Wynne Government would hit a dead end without real and concrete jurisdiction agreement with First Nations.
“I am disappointed to see an announcement by the Wynne government about building roads in our territories when there is no community approval of a proposed agreement recognizing the inherent rights and treaty rights of first Nations over territories.” said Eabametoong Chief Liz Atlookan....
The proposed roads to the Noront project cross the rivers and lands of Neskantaga and Eabametoong."
===================================================================================
Noront did say they don't care if it is east west or north south road...as long as there is a road.
The whole idea of the east-west route and the reason Noront pushed it in the first place was it provided the most benefit to FIRST NATIONS.
We have not heard a peep from Marten Falls& Aroland ..the North south route.
Let's go back in time a bit.....Let's go back a little over 2 years ago..
During this time the Cliffs Rof claims were up for sale and Marten Falls and Aroland were partnered with an investor and wanted to gain this property and advance the chromite project...
"The chiefs insist there is a “superior” bidder who has First Nation support, will benefit Cliffs' creditors and help advance the chromite project."
The chiefs are also opposed to an east-west road corridor to service Noront’s nickel deposit in the Ring of Fire. They favour a north-south corridor that will move chromite"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.....and Noront is Ok with any route....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now what? You really need only one road. Marten Falls and Aroland wanted to advance the chromite project when they went in as a bidder for the Cliffs Chromite claims...they were opposed to Noront servicing their nickel deposit by was of an east west road...
And Noront stated they'll use any road.
Do you remember the Deloitte study about which route...not which ROUTES.
is it east west ..is it north south...is it rail...the gov't wanted to pick one.
And now it seems the north south route it is...
And the Ring of Fire lies on the traditional land of Marten Falls First Nation.
