Indigenous refers to native, or what some still label 'Indians', not Europeans.
As you may have noticed, I prefer to use native. Used it since about 1980s because I would be annoyed if I was a native person and the label is inappropriate if I was an actual Indian.
Yes it is well documented that Vikings discovered N.America but that knowlege seems to have been lost to remainder of Europeans, hence rediscovery by Columbus.
More off topic if I may.
I do not consider natives as being nations but tribes at best. Also imo they did not form the nation Canada but we the European imigrants did. We brought in all the necessary structures that form a nation. I would also argue that Canada did not become a nation until 1867, not only formally but practically.
But what is all this about?
Perspective, which leads to regulations and conclusions about us as a nation, how we all fit in and how we relate.
Neglect of placing our natives in a proper context in the nation has lead to many present problems. Need I say that it further leads to our ( Noront investors) problem with the road to the Ring.
