DART Insight found that the desire for political change was high across the province with 86% in Northern Ontario

Precious little time to turn these numbers around.  It would take something really big to get the libs re-elected.  Good chance the libs don't want the new PC party to swoop in and ignite the ring with the first stroke of the match.  If Wynne got impatient with the Matawa before she must be turning the screws now.  From May 2017....

Premier feeling the heat from Ring of Fire

Premier Kathleen Wynne is reportedly getting tough with northern First Nation chiefs over hold-ups in the construction of a Ring of Fire road.

The Globe and Mail obtained a recent letter from an impatient Wynne to the nine Matawa chiefs indicating her government can’t afford any more delays and is prepared to start one-on-one negotiations with individual communities that do want development, if consensus can’t be reached.

TORONTO — A strong majority of Ontarians want to give Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals a pink slip, according to a new DART Insight poll.

Eight in 10 of the Ontarians surveyed, or 81%, told the pollster that it’s time for another political party to run the province, and only 19% believe Wynne has done a good enough job to be re-elected.

A statement by DART Insight says that it polled voters during the “meltdown” of former PC leader Patrick Brown’s attempt to reclaim the party leadership.

PC members are currently voting for their next leader from four candidates – Tanya Granic Allen, Christine Elliott, Doug Ford and Caroline Mulroney.

“When given a choice as to who should govern Ontario, voters still preferred the Ontario PCs (44%) to do so versus the Ontario New Democratic Party (24%), the Ontario Liberal Party (19%) or another party of their choice (other 13%),” the firm says.

The poll was conducted on behalf of Newstalk 1010 between Feb. 19-27, involved almost 1,000 Ontario adults, and its results have a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6%.

DART Insight found that the desire for political change was high across the province with 86% in Northern Ontario, 83% in Central Ontaroo, 82% in Southwestern Ontario, 81% in the Greater Toronto Area 905 region, and 78% in the City of Toronto calling for another provincial party to take the reins.

Those who wanted the Liberals re-elected tended to be voters with a household income of less than $50,000, aged 18 to 34, university educated, or men, the poll found.

Ontarians choose their next provincial government on June 7.

Wynne emerged out of the 2014 election with a majority government despite poor poll numbers going into the campaign.

Some of the Liberals’ recent policies like a minimum wage hike have been popular, according to other polls, but that enthusiasm hasn’t been reflected in popularity numbers.
