Labour Minister Bullish On Northern Economy

A northwestern Ontario MP is hoping to shift focus to adding natural resources-based jobs to the regional economy in 2019.

Labour Minister Patty Hajdu believes the federal government is starting to make some progress on the Ring of Fire.

She says many governments have "tried to crack the Ring of Fire nut."

Hajdu says other priorities include getting the support that this regions need, whether it's investments or improvements to our educational institutions and infrastructure.

The federal Labour Minister says there's also a need to grow small and medium sized businesses.
