......(Reuters) - The U.S. government is working to help American miners and battery makers expand into Canada, part of a strategy to boost regional production of minerals used to make electric vehicles and counter Chinese competitors.
On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Commerce held a closed-door virtual meeting with miners and battery manufacturers to discuss ways to boost Canadian production of EV materials, according to documents seen by Reuters.
A source who attended the meeting said there was no indication that the Commerce Department would offer financial incentives for new mines or other supply chain components in Canada.....
Comment: If you look at the date of the Reuters article that was just under a year ago...March 18, 2021...So much has change since then that there is no doubt in my mind that the US is now actively talking about helping to finance Canadian mining projects to secure their National Defense and Infrastructure Initiatives. The US can talk big all they want but the truth is without Canada as a trade partner they would really struggle as a super power. Noront may not be part of the public's vocabulary but rest assured behind closed government and corporate doors were the talk of the town...But, shhhhh...Don't tell anyone....No wonder the other First Nations like Neskantaga and Attawapiskat are so worried in their reactive, instead of proactive, states of mind, because everything is about to be expedited in the name of US defense and national security. Something Canada has no other choice to cooperate with, because who else will defend us. The fear these First Nation have is the fear of being overstepped and left behind. This is much bigger than they are, and it is not just about them, but everyone.
