Benton/Don, I too grew up a hunter and surrounded by hunters. Had my first .22 at 10 yrs old. The past number of years I have lived in the GTA and have not been hunting nor felt the urge to do... just other priorities in life right now. But I do strongly feel that the shootings in the major metro areas, especially Toronto (where I work but refuse to live) have gotten way out of hand and something has to be done. It's almost daily that you hear of shootings. School lock downs and closings due to gun issues are common now.
I've moved my family out of the city and commute almost 2 hours (one way) every day becuase I didn't want them so close to the carnage. The kids elementary school in Mississauga was locked down one day a year or so ago due to gun threats.... it s friggin ELEMENTARY school!!!!
I took the kids down to Ont place a while back and as we were walking back to the car I heard shots from just north of where we were. I know the sound.
It IS out of hand and SOMETHING has to be done. I support doing soemthing to get the governments atttention. Somehow we have to stop the import and hit the purps hard ...like min 10 year sentences.
And this is from a hunter.. albeit a dated hunter....
