You're spot on with your question Corndog. You can indeed contribute more than $5000 in any given year subject to the 1% tax penalty. So if you buy, let's say 5000 shares of XYZ Aug 1st at 1.00 and they go up to $10 a share 3 days later ..... 5000 x 10 = $50,000.....Pay the 1% penalty of $50. Transfer the 5000 extra out of the account. The remainder...$50,000 - 5000 - 50 = $44,950...Tax free baby!
