If you have some reputation and want to keep it, the least you'd do is a sales pitch. Do a sales pitch and this was your last invitation to give a talk. Take others' solutions seriously and your own solution will be taken seriously.

I mean, those guys are no idiots. Besides, some of the "others'" solutions have been your own solutions not too long ago. ;-)

Much better to create problem awareness, imply something and then have the others ask you for your solution rather than to (try to) impose it on them.
