Message: Ericsson? re: Nokia

et> I believe Apple and Nokia just signed a large deal

elaborate?

since last spring, MS owns their phones and almost all their patents, and that experience has been such a failure that MS wrote the whole thing off ($7.6B impairment charge late this summer).

they even tossed their mapping arm to the automakers (Audi, Daimler, BMW) directly, rather than let AAPL have it.

the only thing that's really left of "Nokia" is their Siemens telecom equipment (still pretty big), along with their R&D outfit (which is also their branding & licensing arm).

a truce with Ericsson is the Apple deal signed today (ironing out a 2-year-old patent lawsuit).

Nokia might get some benefit if they come out on the winning side of Samsung's patent-licensing brouhaha, but that's separate, and the arbitrator's ruling isn't expected until the end of next month.

are you suggesting there's something going on between Nokia's sensor R&D, FruitCo, and PTK?

I haven't seen anything about that before. PTK world tour 2015 completely skipped Scandinavia/Nordics, so I'm curious whether there'd really be anything to this, or not.
