FJ,
Why the challenges of a 6-inch wafer? Why get complicated? Suresh decided to go for the gold, and he thinks the shortest distance between two points is a straight line—to the market. Will he be right? Will we be consumed by the burn rate in the interim? Will this center piece strategy of using Denselight as his cat’s paw into a ready-made customer base work out? Was it a sucker bet to take on this tech turnaround? It does bring to mind a stupid double up bet used by someone with inadequate math skills, but so be it. At the same time, if this tactic succeeds even the cheap seats will be cheering—a stroke of genius, etc., etc. For me, it is a unique move, one I haven’t seen before and is incredibly daring from an entrepreneurial perspective. But?
All the above is stuff everybody will have to hang around for until late 2018 to see. I wish it were otherwise, maybe it will be, but big bets are never easy bets.
Best Wishes, TMI
