I am sold on the idea that POET has chosen to put all of its resources in its current InP platform and not the GaAs. However, in the very back of my mind, I wonder, sometimes, if the GaAs in one way or another has already been suppressed into secrecy for obvious reasons.

My understanding is that POET through its subsidiary OPEL still owns Dr. Taylor's patents. Also, I would highly doubt that Dr. Taylor himself would want to abandon his lifelong quest so easily. Even his passion would want himself to continue with GaAs research. POET, as a public company, simply could not afford to wait forever in order to get a business model into action which is what they are well into now.

The language of how Suresh mentioned the 4th pin situation and the realities of having to move forward with one platform first (InP) makes sense. But he did also say they were looking for partners for both platforms. On this forum we continue to see approvals for patents for Dr. Taylor's research. So, therefore, that might be another indicator that the project is not permanently shelved but still quietly moving forward below the radar. Again, for national security reasons, any military applications of POET GaAs, may still be in the interest of certain parties unknown to the general public. This is a bit of a conspiracy theory, but I haven't ruled out GaAs 100% yet. Also, POET's current direction might have been strongly suggested until further research is done covertly for GaAs. That suggestion and reasons mentioned since Dr. Taylor's knee problems and withdrawal out of the limelight, the 4th pin monolithic integration issue, etc., though I believe all that to be true, may also be used to advantage as tapestry of diversion until POET can come out ready. What I am hinting at is that POET is being as truthful as they can, but at the same time, it does not rule out that coordinated research may be continuing elsewhere. TRAB was dissolved too, but I believe an earlier NR implied consultation would still be there if needed. So ultra-secret NDAs might still be in effect?

I, again, don't like to put any unrealistic thoughts into people's minds or set-up any unrealistic expectations because I don't know. Sometimes some of us just 'feel' and don't know why. I don't have any expectations about the Indian RFP, but if it should come through then it may be part of a bigger wow moment for POET. My expectations remain grounded on the reality that POET will do very well with their InP platform and Interposer. They found a niche that has many applications in the Interposer. And what they are doing now has been following their plans of commercialization much sooner than ever could happen with GaAs.
