I admit that it would be a nice solution but...

The question that needs to be asked is, "Will the power plant be able to produce more electricity than it will consume with the plasma torches?"

For example, if 10 torches are needed and each of them consumes 10 MW (megaWatt) per hour for a total of 100MW/h and the power plant produces 90 MW/h then it's not worth it...
