While he couldn't sell to ARK (as an index fund, the PRNT ETF that PYR is held in doesn't randomly buy shares), I'd be interested as well whether a single large block sale could have been conducted.
It's my understanding that a closed-market or off-market trade of all the indicated shares could be conducted, as long as:
1/ filings of the sale were disclosed in advance, as with an open-market sale, and
2/ a set price is agreed upon for the shares. Perhaps the current volatility of the market made this second requirement difficult, so the open market sales was selected instead.
Either way, it would be good to have confirmation it was possible, perhaps for future large sales of this nature, as it may be a side-door way to gain further institutional ownership.
