Message: Re: Province reverses position on shale gas

Your title is misleading...if that was the title of the article, then they were misleading.

Frankly the leaks were talked about a while back, so why is Mr. Arcand coming out with these comments now? They were already explained that these leaks are normal. Yes, in one case one had to be fixed and the company is doing their job and keeping it under control. Why would we be mad at Talisman for being responsible and correcting the problem...do they prefer they just leave it unfixed? Like come on seriously give credit where it is due and stop threatining the companies. Leaks like this are bound to happen, and they are common...don't tell me Texas or Arkanasas or NY hasn't seen a repair job on a well.

Number one a moratorium on a resource that might not even be there (according to Talisman...but we know it bs) is ridiculous, doesn't make sense. Second, the government has been going strong on this and social acceptancy is coming (farmers at St. Ed) being a good example.

If they don't want us there, companies will take their money elsewhere and Quebec will continue to sink further into debt.

Even a bunch of the mayors recently voted against a moratorium.

Here is what Mr. Charest said...didn't say there is a moratorium.

"The exploitation of shale gas will be done correctly on our territory — or it won't happen," Charest told reporters."

A leak doesn't mean that it was done incorrectly...they were described as normal...Leclercville needed more action, but there was no threat to the people or water...he also needs to learn the facts, because I don't think he has a knowledge of shale gas and how wells work.

He also said the industry needs to control it's wells...that is a comment that shows lack of knowledge, because if he were to ask questions to know what is really happening with leaks, he'd know that they are common and happen....and frankly at Leclercville, Talisman is doing just that, controlling the situation.
