Luckylou, you are missing the point of my posting.

It was not meant as a chastisement, it was meant as showing the other side of the story.

The most major concern here is that regardless of how major the potential for this project, it is smack dab in the centre of pristine, virgin territory, which is the habitat for several at risk species. The environmentalists will raise a stink about this, using the oilsands as a demonstrating point of how companies claiming environmental stewardship have in the past screwed things up.

The secondary concern, imo, is the FN claims on the traditional grounds. However, they have already tipped their intentions, saying that they have not been compensated properly. So they will be bought off, whether through employment opportunities (which should happen anyway) or through a royalty stipend (which will not imporve their conditions at all).

Do not curb your enthusiasm at all. It is important that we keep all sides of the issue in debate. I, for one, am still optimistic that the players involved will come to some agreement. I am not as optimistic about the length of time it will take, or the cost involved in doing so...
