On almost all levels I agree with you. The NDP doesn't currently matter. I certainly can't imagine them forming a government any time soon. What I found interesting was the level of the rhetoric, and the desire to completely abandon our current economic model, which isn't doing too bad, comparatively.

But as to whether they ever will matter... let's go a bit further back than Broadbent to Tommy Douglas and the CCF. To the Winnipeg General Strike.

The NDP could matter if things ever get bad enough for your average Joe. Especially in Ontario.
