Real; I believe that may be the case with CIBC, possibly being a company policy, but ATB and Q-Trade say this is not their practice --never has been and never will be. HOWEVER, that could be because ATB Financial used to be a provincially owned bank. Possibly a policy that carried over even after they privatized. The guys @ Q-Trade were very emphatic about it not happening though. Possibly because they are the brokers, but I cant see them outright lying about it. Will check some more later on.
