This treaty increases the need for the consultive process which can now lead to all most stopping a project. That will be the next test.

I would suspect most native groups realize they now have more power in negotiations and will demand more. The provincial buzz word is revenue sharing. The treaties are based on definitions of property rights and the FN's just increased theirs.

In a way it is good we are part of Teck as they are used to this kind of negotiaitons and we have a defineable project so some kind of negotiations can happen.

Think if you were a small junior with no money and had an undefined project on claimed land with a group of FN's saying it's headwaters or something ancestoral. You will be forced to give up a share of the project for their approval. Or worse look at who is logging Clayquot.

It is just the new game and lets hope this project is big enough to take care of this new cost.(which I think it is)
