CUU own 25% Schaft Creek: proven/probable min. reserves/940.8m tonnes = 0.27% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 0.018% moly and 1.72 g/t silver containing: 5.6b lbs copper, 5.8m ounces gold, 363.5m lbs moly and 51.7m ounces silver; (Recoverable CuEq 0.46%)
I agree with everything you said.
The sensitivity of the waterways are a concern.
Tailings facilities are not exempt from breach.
New construction specifications will be given a hard look over for new projects.
The thing is...this is not anything new or different in light of the Mount Polley experience. It is just basic common-sense and the way things have always been.
What will be different is when they find out what actually happened at Mount Polley and see if it is applicable to the Schaft Creek mine environmental assessment.
Personally I think they are going to find that Imperial Metals exceeded their specifications, and that monitoring was not good enough. Or at least enforcement was not good enough.
