CUU own 25% Schaft Creek: proven/probable min. reserves/940.8m tonnes = 0.27% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 0.018% moly and 1.72 g/t silver containing: 5.6b lbs copper, 5.8m ounces gold, 363.5m lbs moly and 51.7m ounces silver; (Recoverable CuEq 0.46%)
Will be interesting how the BC government handles the costs associated - Imperial Metals major shareholder helped organize a $1,000,000 private fundraiser for Clarks Liberals prior to the last election, and had held private meetings a couple of years ago in making important industry connections in Calgary.
While this is a normal part of business / government, it could play a factor of some significance > just me thinking out loud here.
CG - according to the Vancouver Sun (Saturday, Aug 9) there was more than one employee who expressed a concern with the tailings pond.
Having said this, I take the view that this most unfortunate incident will present an opportunity for enhanced monitoring by government agencies in the future.
Meanwhile we wait, and wait, and wait ...even the latest drill results in Arizona failed to generate any excitement. But perhaps China's recent announcement about banning coal in Bejing by 2020 will stimulate Teck to more seriously look at SC - hope so.
