Any company can extend the warrant term, but certain conditions apply. Assuming the company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, some of the main conditions are:
-the warrants can’t be listed for trading;
-they can’t be in the money;
-no warrants can have been exercised in the last 6 months;
-at least two weeks remain before the expiry date of the warrants; and
-the company has to issue a press release, disclosing that it is applying to amend the terms of the warrants.
Also, the aggregate of the original exercise period and the extended period cannot be more than 5 years from the date of issue of the warrants.
I'm also not a lawyer....just a lowly shareholder who had a company extend a warrant as a thankyou for helping at a time when it was tough to raise capital! What comes round.......
