Hi coach,
I remember your posts on the subject from some time ago. Excellent summary again.
As everyone knows, the heavy air pollution in cities I was referring to earlier as a public health problem is the result from the burning of fossil fuels in vehicles, factories, refineries, buildings and you name it. Hard to argue with that.
From the data I've run across many times, and that so far hasn't been put down, roughly 3/4 of CO2 emissions come from fossil fuel combustion, and it's the stuff from fossil fuel combustion that pollutes the air in the cities and causes unnecessary health problems, like running my wife me out of NYC. Reducing this pollution can automatically reduce CO2 emissions. Just scrubbing out the CO2 would make no sense, at least to me. Sort of all or nothing. That's the no brainer.
To me, if the global warming initiative fails, there is the possibility down the road a few years of it turning into a universal public health issue and, if so, the global warming community may have an easier time of accomplishing their goals. They probably should have combined the two in the first place.
