Hi Scruffy,
The EU was a "bust" from day one, and trying to adopt a common currency within Europe, was/is/always will be an exercise in futility.
The people are too proud (spoiled brats) to play second fiddle to their neighbours.

Are these the same leaders that possibly control what is happening in the U.S?
Suggest anyone thinking this kind of approach could/would work, has no idea of the history behind Europe
Faced with giving up anthems, flags etc. as well as currency, would have seen the EU out the door before it had a chance to take root.
Make no mistake, that is the long-term agenda, but it will take two to three generations before they can even suggest these kind of changes. Before that happens, there will be unrest and the EU will break up. It is already too costly for the average person.
As for the U.S., the very fact that the government has the over-reaching powers it does have, is why the country is in a financial mess.
I have my own ideas how to "solve? the problems that will face the U.S. and Canada going forward, but they are too radical to table at this time.
Who knows, the way things are going......?
Good Luck to all!
