everyone might be lulled into thinking that all oral insulins go through the gut and the liver like this capsule does. keep in mind that a sublingual/buccal insulin is technically an oral insulin and would not go that route. totally different capillary system that drains into the neck veins into the superior vena cava, thus bypassing the hostile pH and enzymes of the gut, and the liver. if oral insulin ever succeeds, my bet is that it will be sublingual/buccal mucosa spray or dissolving tablet. but this is a long ways away at best. we will have cashed out by then :)
