You are correct. I'm always looking over my shoulder for progress in the development of buccal insulin. I reserve the term oral for the pill form only. I'm not sure if you've heard of Oral-lyn by Generex - a buccal insulin. Here's a recent PR.

From all I've read on them, they've only done small studies, overseas. It certainly would be effective, but I believe the absorption is not as consistent requiring more product and more complicated dosing.

I have to believe that for Oral-lyn to become a reality in the US, they would have to perform much larger studies and thus they would be several years away from marketing here.
