Well,.... you asked and I will vent.....

I totally agree that this short selling should be stopped. It is devastating for smaller companies that are trying to get started and become a target of short sellers. It doesn't matter how good the company is if the shorters decide to knock it down there is not much the company can do to defend itself.

Another very poor feature of the shorting seems to be that if the shorters can drive the company out of business, the shorters do not have to produce the shares and they walk away with all the proceeds of the sales of the shares that they sold (counterfit shares that they didn't have) and do not even have to pay tax on any of the proceeds.

They say that the short selling was allowed to help keep a practical value on a companies share price and this may have held some truth for some larger companies that got a bit fat and lazy but I think it has gotten way out of hand for everyone now. (as proven in even the largest US financial institutions)

I would certainly like to see this practice stopped especially for smaller companies. I do not think that the practice of short selling brings any value to the marketplace or to the ability of companies to get their feet under them and be able to plan on a reasonable share price if they have a decent operation.

It is my opinion that short selling is a very unfair and unproductive practice that brings no value to the marketplace especially the venture markets.

IMHO

S.
