Basically for any new mine development there will be issues related to the local population. It happens all over the world. Not just the local people, but also local and national governments. They all want a piece of the pie, rightfully so.
The only formula that works is that you have to involve all various interest groups and also make them winners. If fair and reasonable, this will usually carry the day.
But then again, there are always someone that wants more, the same as many share holders that feel a company is worth more than what is being proposed, so there will be conflicts for a while until reason wins the day.
I think if this happens and NOT deals with it well, it will in the long run strengthen NOT.
