"P.S. - Some of the "big boys" would probably love to have Agoracom crippled and small retail investors be more "in the dark". Motivating the OSC to try and accomplish that would fit in perfectly with their agenda."
You beat me to it. Your point about S.H. was excellent. Now, this thinking is purely hypothetical, but consider a regulatory agency that begins to receive more complaints than ever before, and the accompanying limelight because more people are in the know via an investment information site. Not only that, but smart investors are now able to put information together from the shared pool on these sites and able to reveal information companies may not want known.... which could potentially explain why companies might become so tight lipped and less forthcoming with announcements to say nothing of defensive. Being that the systems that we live with were developed by the powers, one might hypothesize that they might see it in their best interest to remove any perceived threats to their control.
Investors should ponder on where they would be without this service.... and where others would like them.
