Message: Re: The push is on - Re Hampton
Hampton is a politician and true to any politcian is stating what is favourable to him, i.e. only half the story. What he has failed to say is though a smelter in Manitoba would use cheaper electricity but it would also necessitate the ore to be transported there. So the true saving if any is savings from electricity Minus the transportation cost. I still say placing the smelter at nearest rail point to the mine location may be best for Cliffs and more important for the local community whose support we need 100%. Not to say that the region is in desperate need of development. Ontario politicians ( all parties ) should not shoot at each others feet but work together for the region to improve the infrastructure. Ed G.
