Hello Hebe,
Your post says: "I have been out riding my dirt bike along the Athabasca river & saw with my own eyes, how the tar sands are heated by the sun, runs down the bank & directly into the river!
Looked at from a different perspective, we are helping the environment by taking the oil out of the ground near the river to stop the natural flow of oil into the river."
Interesting fact which I did not hear about before. If there is an opportunity why don't you take a short video clip (I would start with a long-range view and then zoom in to show oil oozing out and running down the river bank) and post it on Youtube. That would be educational and eye-opening for everybody, especially the "environmentalists" in ivory towers. Also, sending a link to Environment Canada so that the scientists there can see the fact and a different perpective. They would need all the help they can get... to off-set the 209 conditions put on the pipeline.
Almost forgot, should send it to some decision makers (i.e. politicians, and other key players) as well.
A few still and close-up shots showing oil streaking into the river would also be informative.
Perhaps, this publicity would prompt a movement to build of a dyke along the river.
