digEcor trails new products ahead of Aircraft Interiors
March 15, 2008 – HANDHELD IFE supplier digEcor is hinting at new product releases in the run-up to the ideal shop window of the Aircraft Interiors show in Hamburg at the beginning of next month.
In a press release describing a new funding initiative by the Utah-based company, president Brad Heckel alludes to “new, less expensive product choices with some of the longest battery lives on the market.” The reference to battery life suggests that whatever digEcor has in the works is more likely to be an out-and-out handheld device rather than the oft-delayed semi-embedded digEsystem.
Meantime, digEcor has announced the creation of what it calls a leasing company designed to offer financing, including no-down-payment arrangements, to potential airline customers.
“Purchase agreements require a significant upfront outlay or capital and many leases traditionally require a large down-payment,” says digEcor chief executive Brent Wood. “Both represent a significant financial hurdle for many airlines. We aim to help airlines to provide their customers with entertainment for little or nothing down.”
