The Greens don't have a chance. The people will not vote for anything that will upset the apple cart. As for big cash. There are a lot more federal reasons for that than provincial. But, with both politicals working hard to give big business a hand up it's small business that pays the ultimate price. This is by design. Having an NDP govt in power just amplifies the effects.

Canada is an Oligarch Society now. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_oligarch). We have shifted from Fabianism. All our govenments efforts have been to drive out small business. Sure they want it to appear that they support the diversification that small business represents but on the other hand they stack the deck against it.

When big business doesn't spend the small guy takes the hit first. Less people come to them with money in hand to buy stuff. Usually what we see happening is the small guys start experiencing longer and longer bill payment cycles. I can remember when bills went from 30 days to 60 and then 90. Now some are not getting paid for 120 days! It's really tough to survive that. They end up laying people off as the opportunities to contract shrink and they get exposed to much greater default rates because everyone else is experiening the same thing. The end result is layoff or they just go belly up.

The Jr stock market finance is a window on what's happening to the small guy. The small business goes to the bank to finance those long payment windows and the cost them so the bank gets the money somone would normally get for the job. Banks don't spend into the community nor into the country for that matter. I don't think people realize just how much life blood banks suck out of economies.

What happens is the small business guys are driven out. This is the end result. With them go the jobs and who steps in to fill the gap? The wallmarts of course. Complete with crappy paying jobs and poisoned dog food and baby toys filled with lead. Let them eat cake as it were.

We have lost about 20% of the small businesses and over 60% of small ag! It's not just your good quality Canadian jeans you're losing it's your safe food too. What I said on my blog about chicken being a controlled substance is true. The rules are set up to prevent the small guy from providing you with free range organic meat and eggs. To have over 300 birds the tax is $2 a bird! With bulk feed (the worst quality) your brreak even point is around 20,000 birds. You are forced into factory conditions like it or not. If you want the free range organic label from your friendly govt a chicken now cost you about $20 to produce. So by market time no one can really afford that so you sell very little.

A couple years ago your government tried to make garlic a controlled substance. I kid you not.

Smoke a mirrors.

While this appears to be targeted at logging the real targets are the welders and mechanics and saw repair shops and and and... http://governmentcaucus.bc.ca/news/ndps-new-log-export-position-its-a-secret/

Just remember who's at the bottom and why they are being wiped out.
