We always had Ham on our sailing voyages. I've recently come across tapes I made of Ham radio traffic I made in the South Pacific and most memorably in Mexico just after a storm put about 28 boats up on the beach in Cabo San Lucas circa 1982. We were anchored up in Magdalena Bay, north of Cabo when the storm hit. Interesting stuff. I've been digitizing all the tapes.
