Where I think you're wrong is that you expected Brian's role to be that of one who communicates to the shareholders in addition to communicating to the company. My understanding is that he was appointed to advise the company.

Whether that role was the best role for Brian is not the issue. The company appointed him in that role. If you don't like the company's parameters on the role, take your complaint up with them, not the person who fills the role.
