Obviously, technically, you're correct about any tie between the requests, and also with the timing of the decisions on the requests and the decision on the '336 as a whole.
That being said, the decision on the '336 is in the USPTO's hands based on the response to the final rejection that our side filed on 5-12, and the subsequent appeal to allow the examiner more time that our side filed on 6-23. AN action is due on that at some point soon, and based on the '584 "appeal to decision time frame" of 42 days, I think it's more than logical to assume that a decision to reject a re-exam could well be an indication that a positive or negative decision on the '336 would be shortly in the offing.
