Bear/Iconoclast - IF the Crestor/Apabetalone patient group performed significantly better than the Lipitor/Apabetalone patient group (i.e., statistically speaking vs. Placebo) then why would the FDA not approve it? The drug is safe so no harm no foul. Why insist or wait for a ‘Bolt-On’ just to prove that it will eventually also work as well with Lipitor? So, maybe Iconoclast is right. Maybe this whole argument is a red herring. No significant difference between the two.....a difference yes perhaps but not noteworthy. The case for a ‘Bolt-On’ would be to improve overall powering to achieve statistical significance, not because of whatever statin a patient is on. Not sure if I’m making sense with this line of thinking so please correct me if my reasoning is faulty.
