Truly, that's the $300M question. I wish I had a good guess other than TPL/PTSC felt the climate had changed / was changing for the worse and felt it's better to take the sure money, than risk losing, even though from our perspective that risk seemed low.

However, PTSC reported that PDS collected $27.9M in license revenues from Q3. Even if you attribute ALL of the operating expenses for FY08 to date, as due to the settlements, they amount to $16.3M, so the settlements more than covered expenses. If the J's deals and February deals were removed from the spreadsheet I use, the resultant license fees would amount to $5.1M. So using that logic (pure SWAG I must note) the J's paid $22.8M combined or $6.5M more than all the expenses of FY08.

In a vacuum, that implies to me that there are more monies or other value to come from the J's deal. However, the language used by Goerner would suggest otherwise, IMO.
