CUU own 25% Schaft Creek: proven/probable min. reserves/940.8m tonnes = 0.27% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 0.018% moly and 1.72 g/t silver containing: 5.6b lbs copper, 5.8m ounces gold, 363.5m lbs moly and 51.7m ounces silver; (Recoverable CuEq 0.46%)
I agree Chops. Teck mentioning the Golden Triangle is huge news for us.
"The infrastructure in the district here [Northwest BC] is continuously improving and I expect this is going to be an important exploration focus for quite some time."
The potential in the Golden Triangle is hugely understated in my opinion. Take a look at what some exploration focus has done for KSM, Red Chris, and Brucejack:
KSM
2008 - 2.4B lbs of copper, 3.4M ozs of gold
2012 - 13B lbs of copper, 49M ozs of gold
And they've just uncovered some new finds this year so there's a lot more potential:
Seabridge Gold Discovers Large, High-Grade Copper Zone at KSM
Red Chris
2010 - 4.6B lbs of copper, 6.6M ozs of gold
2012 - 7.6B lbs of copper, 11.1M ozs of gold
They've also had some solid exploration results so there's potential here too:
Imperial Metals Corporation: Red Chris Project Update
Brucejack
2011 - 0.9M ozs of gold at 7.6 g/t
2012 - 8.5M ozs of gold at 16.4 g/t
Once again, there's huge potential because the deposit is still open to the East, West, and at depth.
I have no doubt that additional exploration at Schaft Creek will uncover similar potential. I don't know when this exploration will occur, but I'm sure the success of these other properties has give Teck confidence that there's a lot more to find on our properties.
